Adidas is gearing up to open a global capacity center in Chennai.
International sportswear giant Adidas is making strategic moves to establish a global capacity center in Chennai, marking a significant expansion of its operations in Asia. This move comes as part of Adidas' broader global strategy, with the new hub in Chennai being the first of its kind in Asia outside of China.
The Global Business Services hub in Chennai is set to harness India's pool of skilled software professionals, capitalizing on the country's expertise in managing key business processes. Spearheading this initiative is Akhil Kapoor, identified on LinkedIn as the Vice President of Global Business Services Global Procurement and the Head of Global Business Services India. According to sources familiar with the development, Kapoor will play a pivotal role in overseeing critical processes such as source-to-pay, financial planning and analysis, invoice-to-cash, and record-to-report.
The Chennai hub has earned the designation of being the Global Hub, seamlessly integrating with Adidas' existing hubs in Porto (Portugal), Dalian (China), Bogota (Colombia), and North America. This integration is strategically aimed at efficiently addressing the company's global operations. The decision to establish a global hub in Chennai reflects Adidas' confidence in India's capabilities and its commitment to leveraging the nation's skilled workforce for driving key business functions.
Over the next three to five years, Adidas is anticipated to make sustained investments in its Chennai hub to foster continuous growth. Despite having a corporate office in Gurgaon, Adidas did not have a global capacity center in India until now. This move signifies a significant milestone for the sportswear brand, reinforcing its dedication to expanding its footprint in the Indian market.
